TURMatrix is an adaptive matrix sentence test that measures the speech reception threshold (SRT) in noise and in quiet. Sentences are generated at random from a matrix of ten common Turkish words in each of five categories (name, number, adjective, object, verb), giving sentences with a fixed structure that cannot be predicted. Responses can be open-set (verbal repetition) or closed-set (selecting words on screen), and the result is reported as an SRT in dB SNR. In 38 Turkish adults with normal hearing, the adaptive SRT in noise was −7.2 ± 0.7 dB SNR with open-set and −7.9 ± 0.7 dB SNR with closed-set responses.
Speech reception threshold in noise and in quiet (SRT, dB SNR)
Turkish-speaking adults; norms were obtained from adults with normal hearing. Later studies also applied it in hearing aid and cochlear implant users.
