The Vertigo Council Diagnosis Questionnaire is an original 10-question tool developed to support the differential diagnosis of common vestibular disorders in patients with chronic vestibular dysfunction. The questions were drafted by otolaryngologists, neurologists and a physiatrist and revised based on the opinions of 15 specialist physicians. In the preliminary study, the content validity index was 0.676 and item test–retest agreement (kappa) ranged from 0.51 to 0.93, while agreement between the questionnaire-based and the actual diagnosis was moderate (63.2%; kappa = 0.441). The authors recommend that diagnosis rely on face-to-face interviews and clinical and laboratory evaluation rather than on the questionnaire alone.
